Grandma's herring salad


Family recipe from Renée her mother, herring salad with freshly sour apple, shallots, sour pickles, dill and horseradish.

Directions

  1. Boil the eggs in 8 min. Hard, let them scare under cold running water and peel them. Cut the eggs into slices. Cut the unpeeled apple into four parts, remove the core and cut the parts into thin slices.
  2. Cut the herring into tiny cubes. Chop the shallot. Slice the pickles. Spoon the herring with the shallot, gherkin, dill and horseradish. Season with pepper.
  3. Spread the slices of apple over a bowl and spoon the herring salad over it. Put the slices of egg on top and garnish with the rest of the dill and pepper to taste.
