Ostrich braai with apricot sauce

A nice South African recipe. The main course contains the following ingredients: poultry, ostrich steaks (a ca. 100 g), ground pimento, chilli pepper from the mill, onion, oil, garlic, curry powder, vinegar, apricot jam, salt and pepper and cold butter or margarine.

Directions

  1. Dust meat with allspice and chili pepper. Peel and chop onions. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in pan 1 and fry onion gently in about 5 minutes. Peel the garlic and press it over it. Stir in the curry powder and vinegar, add 1 dl of water and cook for about 5 minutes on low heat. Stir sauce with hand blender.
  2. Turn the grill pan over and over. Fill steaks with oil left over and roast in a grill pan for about 8 minutes, turning halfway. Meanwhile reheat sauce. Stir jam through sauce. Season the sauce with salt and pepper. Cut butter into small cubes and beat with sauce. Cast the steaks with salt and place on four plates. Creating a little sauce, serving the rest separately. Serve with corn salad and baked potatoes with beans.
