Rillettes of smoked mackerel


A tasty Dutch recipe. The starter contains the following ingredients: fish, smoked mackerel (300 g), dry white wine, fresh thyme, butter (melted), nutmeg, white bread, pickles and black olives (without pit).

Directions

  1. Clean the mackerel: remove the skin and remove the fish meat from the bone. Remove small pieces. Place the pieces of fish meat in a deep plate and separate them with two forks. Mix the fish meat with the wine, butter and thyme and add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  2. Spoon the mackerel mixture into 4 small pots or bowls, smooth the top and put the jars with rillettes in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  3. Roast the slices of bread and cut them into 4 triangles each. Put the jars with mackerel fillets on plates and place the triangles of bread, gherkins and olives next to them.
