South African bobotie with minced meat and brown rice


Bobotie with minced meat, green beans, apple and raisins. Delicious with unpolished rice.

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ºC.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to the boil and boil the green beans with salt, if necessary, for 5 minutes. Drain and let drain well.
  3. Meanwhile, clean the onions and cut into half rings. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion, minced meat and the bobotiemix 5 minutes on medium heat.
  4. Meanwhile, cut the unpeeled apples into quarters, remove the core and cut the apples into cubes of ½ cm (brunoise).
  5. Beat the eggs and add the milk, pepper and possibly salt.
  6. Mix the green beans with the minced meat mixture, apple and raisins. Spread over the baking dish, pour the egg mixture over it and bake for about 20 minutes in the middle of the oven.
  7. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to the boil. Boil the rice with salt, if necessary, for 15 minutes. Drain, put the rice back in the pan and leave with the lid on the pan until use.
  8. Serve with the bobotie.
