Sweet shallots


A tasty French recipe. The vegetarian side dish contains the following ingredients: raisins (bag 500 g), dry white wine, shallots (400 g), olive oil, cloves, bay leaf, white wine vinegar and sugar.

Directions

  1. Soak the raisins in the white wine for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to the boil and cook the shallots, unpeeled, 10 minutes. Remove from the water and let cool slightly. Peel off the sheet.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and add the shallots, the cloves and the bay leaf. Fry the shallots over low heat in 5 min. Brown.
  3. Add the raisins and the wine and bring to the boil. Add the vinegar and the sugar and let it boil for 2 minutes until the moisture becomes a little syrupy. Season with salt and pepper and leave to cool. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
