Put the flour, sugar, yeast, butter, water, salt and egg in a bowl. Knead in 10 minutes to a coherent elastic dough.

Form a ball from the dough and put in a greased bowl. Cover with cling film and allow to rise for about 1 hour until the dough has doubled in volume.

Knead the dough briefly and divide it into 5 equal pieces. Roll each piece to a strand of 30 cm long.

Press the ends together on one side and braid to the other end and press in the same way. Place on a griddle covered with parchment paper.

Cover the loaf loaf loosely with preserving foil and leave to rise for 1 hour in a warm, draft-free place until it has doubled in volume.

Remove the foil. Split the egg and brush the dough with the beaten yolk. Sprinkle with the poppy seeds.

Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.

Bake the bread in about 25 minutes until done. Remove from the oven and leave on a rack to cool down to room temperature in 30 min. Yummy! .
