Cut the onions into thin half rings.

Heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the onion with the chili pepper, cloves and the cinnamon stick for 25 minutes on low heat. Stir frequently.

Add the vinegar and stir in the sugar. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes until a coarse jam.

Allow the jam to cool and remove the cloves and the cinnamon stick. Put the jam in a lockable jar.

Remove the skin from the sausages. Mix the minced meat with the meat of the sausages. Form 4 large or 8 small citizens with damp hands.

Sprinkle the burgers with the thyme on both sides. Wrap them separately in cling film and store them together for use in a lockable container.

Heat the grill pan. Grill the big burgers in 8 minutes and the small burgers in 5 minutes. Turn halfway.

Serve the burgers with the onion jam. Bon appétit! .
