Book review: Naturally Delicious Basic Cookbook
-
Do you like to be in the kitchen, but do you find it difficult to put something tasty and healthy on the table without packages, bags and artificial products? Then let nutritionist Monique van der Vloed help you go back to the basics: pure and healthy enjoyment of dishes with only natural ingredients. Her 'Naturally Tasty Basic Cookbook' is the starting point.
-
Author Monique van der Vloed is a nutritionist with a passion for healthy eating. She herself has stopped eating meat since she was 18 and as naturally as possible. She still often thinks back to her childhood. Staying with her grandfather and grandmother, because grandma always made the best things. And she made everything herself. According to Van Der Vloed we have far too much choice these days. All those choices have a lot of advantages, of course, but the author also sees disadvantages. "We have started to live less consciously. Take everything too much for granted and just find everything because it is there." So she wants to go back to basics. Back to nature; simplicity and purity. Van Der Vloed therefore makes as much as possible everything himself. And she hopes that with the help of the Naturally Delicious Basic Cookbook you will do the same.
Begin
-
The book is a starting point with basic recipes: from breakfast to dinner and from sauces to snacks. Van Der Vloed does not want to impose anything on you and does not tell you what you should or should not do, but instead shows you how relatively simple it is to cook pure and simple. The recipes are composed loosely and freely, without bells and whistles. You can experiment yourself and invent your own taste. That way you are consciously involved with nutrition and you can also enjoy it. A The book therefore contains natural versions of popular dishes such as hash, pizza, gingerbread, meatballs, spring rolls, brownies, candy bars and peanut butter. The homemade sandwich spread, coconut macaroons or cream puffs are also tasty. You also learn to make all kinds of salads, sauces and variations on custard. You will also find new and special dishes such as vegetable crisps, sweet potato nut spread, chocolate pudding tarts, lentil satà © and tuna coconut burgers.

Simple
-
The recipes are all very accessible and often quite simple. Of course, not everything looks as beautiful as the 'artificial' version - not all photos will make your mouth water immediately - but that is also a matter of getting used to. The idea that everything in the photo, including what you prepare, is pure, natural and organic makes up for a lot. In principle, all recipes in the basic cookbook are vegetarian. If you would like to eat meat, you can replace the meat substitutes with meat. You can also add a piece of organic meat or fish to many dishes. Van Der Vloed also tries to take allergies into account as much as possible. Most recipes are gluten and cow's milk free. She does not use cheese, only goat cheese and, for example, goat quark.
Surprise
-
With Natural Tasty Basic Cookbook, Monique van der Vloed hopes to inspire people to a starting point for a happier and happier life by laying a healthy foundation. With real flavors from nature, as they once were and have not been artificially recreated. You have to open up and let yourself be surprised. Experiment with the recipes and discover what you like. Sometimes it requires a slightly different way of thinking. And your pantry also needs a little makeover. For example, you should have coconut oil, stevia and Celtic salt in your cupboard as standard. The same applies to a homemade flour mix with gluten-free flours. Whether you go completely for the 'natural' cooking and baking way or if you simply want to be conscious about your diet, the basic cookbook can be a supplement in both cases. Van Der Vloed shows that it doesn't have to be that difficult. And also gives you the space to discover your own way. That makes it an inspiring book. Monique van der Vloed shares her passion for healthy eating on Facebook through her own group â € We make that ourselves, of courseâ € ™. She has published several successful cookbooks, contributed to several books on nutrition and writes columns and articles. She also has her own blog.
