This survey by the consumer association showed, among other things, that almost all the meal salads studied contain too few vegetables. The recommended amount of vegetables that a person should preferably eat daily has been set by the nutrition center at 150 grams. The average amount of vegetables in the studied meal salads turned out to be only 130 grams. The goat cheese salad from the Jumbo is even a negative exception to this. This meal salad from the Jumbo contains only 90 grams of vegetables, according to the Consumer Association's test. Only Albert Heijn's Caesar salad received a satisfactory score in terms of the amount of vegetables in the meal salad. This meal salad turned out to contain exactly the recommended 150 grams of vegetables.

During the investigation, the Consumers' Association also established that the number of calories in a ready-made meal salad is alarming. Some of the meal salads studied contain even more calories than a portion of fries with mayonnaise or a tasty hamburger sandwich from Mac Donalds. For example, a portion of fries with mayonnaise contains an average of 552 calories and a Mac Donald's Bic Mac 492 calories. On average, meal salads were found to contain 650 calories. For example, the Consumers' Association research shows that a goat cheese salad from the AH is even a real calorie bomb. The goat cheese salad contains over 800 calories. The alarming number of calories can be explained by the additions that are made in the meal salads during the preparations. Where salads used to consist mainly of vegetables, possibly supplemented with fruit, a meal salad is now often made up with tasty, but very unhealthy ingredients.
