Is honey healthier than sugar?

But scientifically there is no evidence that eating honey makes you healthier. What is actually in honey? In fact it is a form of sugar: a mixture of glucose and fructose. There is little difference with other forms of sugar, such as granulated sugar and cane sugar. In your body, all types of sugars are broken down and digested in the same way. Honey does contain slightly more water than granulated sugar. It contains slightly fewer calories per 100 grams.

Different types

Honey does not spoil quickly because of the high amount of sugars. It is best to keep it closed, in a dark, cool place but not too cold. If it gets too cold, the honey can solidify. That is no problem: a few seconds in the microwave and it is liquid again. You can still eat crystallized honey. It looks less appetizing, but is still safe to eat.
