Losing weight with the Noom app

  1. Noom is a very handy (free) app that makes losing weight very easy. It works on the basis of so-called food logging, the registration of calories. You don't have to stick to a strict diet, but you can compose your own meals based on three groups of ingredients.

Where to download

  1. Noom can be downloaded for free from the app store, this app is also available for Apple products. There is also a paid version in circulation that has some extra features, namely Noom Pro. Unfortunately, Noom is not available in Dutch, but the English version can be used perfectly without having a good linguistic knack. Once the app is downloaded, it will ask for some basic information; your weight, your age, how strict you want the diet, how active your lifestyle is, which sports you practice, what health problems you have, etc. Try to fill this in as honestly as possible, it will only benefit your plan. You will also be asked for your target weight. When all this is done you can start.

How Noom works

  1. The app calculates how many calories you can eat per day. The calorie disc is divided into three colors, representing different types of food categories. The ideal ratio for weight loss is 15% of the red category, 35% of the yellow category and 50% of the green category. The aim is also to make this combination with every meal. So with breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and evening snack.

Sports

  1. Noom has an extra application that keeps track of the exact amount of calories you burn while performing a sport or workout. You can choose to keep it with you during the sport or log the workout afterwards. If you keep the phone with you while running or cycling, it also keeps track of the average speed and distance you have traveled. You do this by going to the tab "logbook", clicking on "start workout" and selecting the sport you are going to perform and when you are done click on "stop workout". You will then be shown the amount of calories you have burned and a percentage of those calories will automatically be added to your calorie disc.
