Sinus infection: symptoms of a sinus infection

  1. Forehead sinus symptoms are headache, sore throat and sometimes fever. A sinus infection often follows a viral infection in the upper respiratory tract, such as a cold or flu. Common symptoms are a stuffy nose or headache. Every year many people come to the doctor with a sinus infection. Popularly this is often referred to as sinus inflammation, although in most cases not the sinus cavities but the maxillary sinuses are affected. Antibiotics are of little or no use in treating sinusitis. This condition heals on its own in most cases. You can use paracetamol for pain relief. Steaming for 15 minutes three times a day gives a pleasant widening of the nasal passage in case of a sinus infection (or sinus infection). Consult your doctor if you are seriously ill and have a fever, if there is no spontaneous recovery or if the sinus infection occurs at least three times a year.

What is sinusitis or a sinus infection?

  1. A sinus infection, or sinusitis, is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of one or more hollow spaces behind the nose, in the upper jaw and in the forehead. These hollow spaces are called sinuses, hence the name 'sinus inflammation'. There are four hollows on both sides of the head

Sinusitis Causes

  1. In three quarters of the cases a bacterium is the culprit, although it is often preceded by a viral respiratory infection. Acute sinusitis usually follows a viral infection in the upper respiratory tract, such as a cold or the flu. A viral infection clogs the drainage holes, causing mucus
