Spiritual growth through processing negative feelings

Quite a few people may be walking around with negative feelings. By confronting these feelings through the application of movements such as mindfulness, Buddhism and / or TAO, they may be able to be processed. This clears the way for spiritual growth. For example, mindfulness is a set of skills and, according to Hayes, can be described as an intentional process of observing and describing reality without judgment. All this must be done in an effective manner and on the basis of the present.

The self-healing capacity of the body is great, whereby conviction is leading. The body always tries to satisfy a person's wishes. If you don't let the goals depend on immediate approval from others, you paradoxically win their approval in many cases in the long run. However, if fear determines the thoughts and actions, this fear will bring about exactly what you are afraid of. Hence, holding onto incorrect thought patterns is the way to get them over and over again. By linking current feelings to a stressful past experience, the mind can automatically allow the heart to feel the emotion in question more deeply. This allows the experience to be (partially) let go. It is therefore better to experience emotions directly, instead of storing them unprocessed elsewhere in the body. This ultimately leads to a blockage of the energy flow. Keep in mind that positive thinking doesn't work when people deny their true feelings and desires against their better judgment.

This growth can be started if you stop wanting to control everything and avoid confrontation with inner pain at all costs. This pain is constantly present when life does not live up to our expectations. In addition, this pain is generally covered by thoughts and emotions. The ever-frenetic avoidance of the inner pain evokes fears, causing unrest. Then, by means of inventive thoughts, an attempt is made to prove oneself right and to prove that others are wrong. Stop that and stop building walls to constantly protect yourself by adapting your thoughts and behavior to a situation.

There are several possibilities to positively influence unresolved negative thoughts and feelings. A distinction can be made here:
Mindfulness

In this Western mindfulness training, which is closely related to Buddhism, thoughts and feelings are not only considered to be existing but also transitory. These have little to do with the person in question. Worrying thoughts are not the problem - as with cognitive theories - but the oppression of these thoughts. Mindfulness also teaches that it is better to allow negative feelings as part of life, in order to release the tension. Pain is caused by holding back feelings, not allowing them. Immediately after admitting the emotion - the adrenaline is already in the blood after a few seconds - take a relaxed breath. Then observe all thoughts without allowing certain experiences to prevail. Concentrate on it and if you can't do anything with it, let go of these thoughts.
Buddhism

This is an Indian ideology and religious movement, dating from the fifth century BC. The starting point is the suffering (dukkha) of mankind through harmful thoughts, which arise from a distorted reality. This teaching provides clues as to how we can liberate ourselves from it definitively through an eight-fold path. The ultimate goal is that man is liberated from the cycle of rebirth (samsara). Buddhism also assumes a critical attitude in addition to ethical behavior. Buddha was therefore against the inequality of the caste system and was for the emancipation of women. One should enjoy the good without becoming attached to it. Be mindful and content with what you have and don't want what you don't have.

TAO

In order to attain spiritual growth, the golden mean (TAO) can also be followed. This Chinese view developed by Lao Tzu in the sixth century BC. makes short work of the ego's extreme thought world. An important part of Taoism is Wu Wei (inaction). Leave the often insignificant stream of thoughts for what it is. If you live from the center and are not tossed between extremes, then peace and harmony will define your life. However, the practice is that extremities absorb a lot of energy. By researching this one can become much wiser. However, the solution is simple: simply let go of the extreme situation and spend no further energy on it. Then a middle position will automatically be taken again. The center is like the eye of a hurricane. Everything is at rest there, with the energies circling around it. Observing without acting is the credo.
