The healing power of marjoram

  1. Marjoram is more often referred to as marjoram or true marjoram in the Netherlands. Some people call it sausage spice. True marjoram is native to the Mediterranean. Marjoram has a slightly thyme-like aroma. Marjoram is part of herbes de provence, a French green herbal blend. Oregano is closely related to marjoram; you could use it in recipes instead of marjoram. In France a cross between oregano and marjoran has been made; this is called French marjoram.

Awesome iron and manganese

  1. Marjoram is used in salads, soups, dressings, stews, egg dishes, vegetable dishes, marinades and sauces. It is an incredibly healthy herb; much healthier than many vegetables. We do not eat it in large quantities, but that may be unjustified. Using herbs as salad vegetables is a culinary responsible option. You could grow marjoram yourself to make a salad; then you make effective use of the incredibly large amounts of vitamins and minerals that are hidden in this plant growing low to the ground. It contains the most iron: 110 grams of marjoram accounts for over 1000% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)

Other high mineral percentages marjoram

  1. In addition to a special amount of iron, one ounce of marjoram contains manganese (236% DV), calcium (200% DV), copper (126% DV), magnesium (87% DV), zinc ( 33% RDA) and potassium

Scientific research has shown that marjoram is a liver-protecting herb. It is also an antioxidant; that is, it traps free radicals. These free radicals can -if they are not kept in check- cause DNA cell degeneration and cancer. It also counteracts high blood pressure and prevents platelets from sticking together.
