Custard

  1. Just like milk, custard contains protein, vitamins B2, B12 and calcium. These are nutrients that are good for your body. Still, custard is not included in the Wheel of Five. Fruit in juice is a better choice than fruit in syrup, but juice is high in sugar. Dried fruit (e.g. apricots or figs) contains more sugar than fresh fruit. This is because the moisture is out. Most of the vitamin C is also lost through drying. Tip: Keep a portion of dried fruit small and choose unsweetened varieties.
