Healthy baby shower snacks!

  1. The baby shower may originally be an American tradition, but it is also becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands to surprise expectant mothers with a party. A typical baby shower requires a lot of friends, a lot of fun, and of course a table for delicious snacks with a baby theme.

  1. Although it is really okay to sin a little bit on such an occasion, it is of course all the better if you also manage to keep all that food a little healthy. That's why today we're giving you some festive baby shower snacks that you can put on the table guilt-free!

Fruit pram

  1. A large fruit salad is of course a great eye-catcher on any buffet, but when you present it in this way, you can be absolutely sure that it will become a real showpiece. You need a good melon, a mango, some strawberries and grapes, along with all the fruit you like, of course.

  1. Slightly flatten the melon on one side so that it remains, and cut it out so that the skin remains in the shape of a pram. Hollow out the melon and fill it with the pieces of melon and other fruit to taste. Make a baby head from a peeled mango, with a strawberry as a mouth and grapes for eyes. You can hardly get more within the theme!

Minimuffins

  1. Make a healthy muffin batter from 1 banana, 2 eggs, 100 ml vegetable milk of your choice, 2 tsp baking powder and 125 g oatmeal. Optionally you can also add fruit or cinnamon. Fill about 20 small muffin tins with this mixture and bake them at 170 degrees and until golden brown.

  1. While the muffins are in the oven, melt a small bar of extra dark chocolate and brush the muffins when they come out of the oven. Sprinkle with pink or blue mice for an extra festive effect, and serve the muffins stacked in a champagne glass, for example. So you have ideal baby shower snacks.

Vegetable chips

  1. No party is complete without fries â € “but luckily you can also give that snack a healthier twist. Make vegetable chips by cutting firm vegetables into bars as desired. Carrot, parsnip, bell pepper and celeriac are good options for this.

  1. Drizzle the fries with oil and some salt and bake them for about half an hour in an oven at 220 degrees. To do this, turn them every ten minutes. Serve the vegetable chips in cone bags of brightly colored paper for an extra festive look. Delicious with a spicy yoghurt sauce or a dip of crème fraîche and chili sauce.

Mocktails and drinks

  1. And then of course there is the drinking, which can certainly contribute to the festive setting. Alcohol is not an option with a pregnant hostess anyway, and that of course makes the drinks a lot healthier! Fortunately, that alcohol-freedom certainly doesn't limit the options. For example, make your own iced tea from green tea, fresh mint and lime juice, served with plenty of ice.

  1. Or make a pink or blue mocktail if you already know whether it will be a boy or a girl. It's not difficult: pick your favorite mocktail and use pomegranate juice or raspberry juice for a girl, and blueberries for a boy.

Decorating baby shower snacks

  1. Do you have a favorite healthy dish for parties, but does it fit a little less perfectly into the baby theme? Fortunately, almost all buffet dishes can become beautiful baby shower snacks with some clever decoration. So choose a nice vintage bowl and put a garland in the right colors around it, or attach beautiful bows to your skewers and spoons. This is how you create a babyshower version for all your favorite snacks!
