Soft drink: Soft drink is a huge fattener

  1. The producers think it's all not too bad with soft drinks. But it is not easy, because a glass of soda quickly contains between 5 and 6 sugar cubes and no good substance. Children in particular drink a lot of soft drinks and that causes overweight. Elderly people don't drink that much soda because they are not used to it. In the past, a glass of injection was once served on a Saturday evening. In addition, there are also a lot of coloring agents in most soft drinks.

For people in their 40s, 50s and 60s, soft drinks were a luxury or it was never drunk

  1. Anyone in their forties in 2011 probably got a glass of shot earlier on Saturday evening to celebrate the weekend. People in their fifties and sixties probably didn't get the sugar-filled fluid at all. In the first place because it was hardly available in their youth (lemonade and grenadine), in the second place because in many families there was no money for this type of luxury. Today it is different. The stores are full of oversized soft drink bottles, small pocket soft drink bottles and all the variants that are still there.

What does the Dutch drink in a day?

  1. In 2010, the Dutch drank an average of one glass of cola, orange or other soft drink. A lot of coffee and tea was drunk. The average Dutch person drinks nearly 1.7 liters of fluid per day. Of that is 0.2 liters of alcohol. Coffee and tea is about half a liter per day, from water we take 0.4 liters to us and from soft drinks we take 0.263 liters to us in a day.

Drinking makes up nearly 20 percent of our energy intake

  1. With the drink that the average Dutch person consumes, 344 kilocalories are consumed. This is no less than 17 percent of the recommended daily allowance (2000 Kcal) we need to live on. Those who drink alcohol get even more, because drink contains the most calories. But dairy drinks also contain so much sugar and fat that people consume far too many calories. Dairy drinks such as Yogi and all other variants provide 75 Kcal. Soft drinks provide 67 Kcal.

Diet soft drinks are growing in popularity

  1. People are drinking more and more diet soft drinks. In 2000, 18 percent of all soft drink consumption was in the form of diet products, in 2008 this was already 31 percent. It is also clear that overweight people choose light products more often than people who have a normal weight. That in itself is good, because the soft drinks do not contain sugar but aspartame. And there are no calories in it. Yet the substance is controversial because it is not exactly good for the body.

What is Aspartame?

  1. The artificial sweetener aspartame is made from the chemicals aspartic acid, phenylalanine and methanol. Once in the body, the methanol, or methyl alcohol, is converted into formalin and formic acid. Formalin is a poison and also carcinogenic. It is also used for outgassing contaminated areas. Phenylalanine is also a nerve poison, but changes when another amino acid from protein is added.

There are also people who don't drink soft drinks at all

  1. There are people in the Netherlands who never touch a glass of soda. Because they don't like it, because their stomach can't handle it (carbon dioxide in soft drinks is very bad for the stomach) or because they prefer much healthier drinks such as real fruit juices or vegetable juices or water, coffee or tea. That does mean, however, that there are tons of other people who knock back 2, 3, 4 or more glasses of soda every day.

Children drink a lot of soft drinks

  1. Children between the ages of 4 and 18 drink a lot of soft drinks. A quarter of what they drink in a day consists of very sweet glasses of soda. On the other hand, people over 65 almost never drink a glass of cola, orange, seven-up or spa lemon.

How much to drink does a person need?

  1. A person must drink enough to function. Dehydration causes the organs to stop working and that can even lead to death. An adult needs about 2 to 2.5 liters of fluid per day. About 70 percent of this comes from drinks such as coffee and tea. The rest comes from fruit and vegetables. Research has shown that men drink more than women. But that's mainly because they drink more alcohol than women. Men take 0.28 liters of alcohol per day, while women stick to 0.088 liters. But women again drink more water, coffee and tea.

How much should a child and a young person drink in a day?
