Tap water intolerance, symptoms and solution

  1. By now most people know that you can contract an allergy to peanuts, wheat products, milk, nightshade vegetables, sugar and fluoride. Nowadays it is even possible to have a tap water intolerance! The people who suffer from this are in fact allergic to water. This occurs in very sensitive people because there are only few bad substances in tap water. In principle, the drinking water in the Netherlands is among the highest quality drinking water in the world, but that does not mean that it is healthy for everyone.

  1. Symptoms Intolerance to water? Is that possible? Hurray for the water companies Dirty pipes Medicines and other junk Spring water instead of tap water Sensitive people Solution Filter water

  1. The symptoms for tap water intolerance are constipation, painful cramps, stones in the stool and sometimes too loose stools. Tap water intolerance can occur in babies and they have to cry loudly. It's an annoying phenomenon.

Water intolerance? Is that possible?

  1. Intolerance to drinking water is strange to most people. How can our Dutch drinking water, which is so often praised in the newspaper and is the cause of disease symptoms by government authorities, still in babies? We all know that the Netherlands is very careful with its tap water and that the Dutch water companies deliver an excellent performance when it comes to purifying rain and river water.

Hooray for the water companies

  1. The water companies are doing a fantastic job but the rivers are full of agricultural poisons and industrial wastewater. Our clouds are even subject to environmental pollution. The rain that falls is already polluted and can no longer be drunk, as it was before industrialization. In addition, the rain falls through the air and the air is also polluted. The rain, as it were, takes polluted particles from the air and guides them to the ground. The water then ends up in polluted soil. Time and again there are countless substances with which the water comes into contact that lead to many chemical reactions, which means that new (poisonous) substances are continuously produced. These must be filtered by the water companies. Since the pollution is so great, the water companies cannot filter everything out.

Dirty pipes

  1. Then the drinking water goes through pipes to the consumer. These pipes are sometimes very old. As a result, lead and nickel particles can get into the drinking water. Some people have a nickel allergy because of our 'healthy' drinking water. Lead is one of the most toxic metals. You see, there are many ways to pollute the water.

Medicines and other rubbish

  1. The drinking water that comes out of the tap contains residues of: synthetic pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, medicines and contraceptives. Furthermore, it even contains remnants of radioactive waste! Obviously, radioactive waste is treated with care in the Netherlands, but this is a very stubborn substance that cannot be easily removed from drinking water. You have to remember that the aftermath of the explosion of the atomic bombs in Japan at the end of the Second World War can still be measured in the entire Northern Hemisphere, including in the Netherlands. It may be the case that the water filters in waterworks show extra radioactivity because the radioactive particles all pass there. Likewise, air vents are also more prone to radioactivity.

Spring water instead of tap water

  1. Bottled mineral water is still much purer than tap water. Buy a good brand such as spa blue, which is proven spring water. Supermarket house brands are able to put ordinary tap water in a bottle.

Sensitive people

  1. Of all intolerances, tap water intolerance is one of the least common forms of intolerance. An intolerance to fluoride, milk, vaccinations, chocolate and artificial fragrances, colors and flavors are more common. Still, it can be important to become aware of the fact that tap water intolerance exists. It can be particularly helpful for very sensitive babies, as many attempts may have been made to find out what causes a baby's crying and improper defecation. Tap water intolerance only affects sensitive people.

  1. To check if your baby or yourself has tap water intolerance, simply drinking spa blue or another good branded spring water is enough. After a week of drinking spa blue, possibly making coffee and tea with spa blue, you can check for yourself whether the symptoms have decreased or disappeared. For babies, you should no longer dilute a bottle with tap water but with spring water.

Filter water

  1. Another solution is to install a device that filters the water. There are several devices that filter the water. You can buy a separate appliance with a tap on it, but there are also built-in systems where water is filtered before it flows from your own tap. Remember that the filters must be replaced in good time with all filtration systems.
