The healing power of fresh garlic

  1. Garlic is popular in natural medicine and has been used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and the Romans. And that is not surprising. In addition to promoting digestion and a positive effect on the blood vessels, garlic has an anti-fungal effect and is therefore often used in the treatment of fungal infections. Garlic is natural, inexpensive and very effective.

Active ingredients

  1. The beneficial effect of garlic is due to alliciin and saponin. These substances have an anti-fungal and antibacterial effect. Garlic also contains trace elements such as selenium, iodine, magnesium, iron and zinc, and vitamins A, B complex and C.

Fresh garlic or preparation?

  1. The problem with odorless garlic preparations that you can get at a drugstore is that very few substances from the garlic are used. This is disadvantageous because the substances in garlic reinforce each other in effect. By putting a limited number of substances in a preparation, the healing power of garlic often does not come to its fullest. Fresh garlic is therefore a better option as a medicine. The advantage of a garlic preparation is that odorless variants are available. Many people find the pungent smell of garlic unpleasant.

Garlic smell

  1. When you smell a clove of garlic, the smell is almost non-existent. The scent is only released when the garlic is cut or pressed. The enzyme that causes this odor is allinase. This ensures that the alline is converted into allicin. This substance contains sulfur and provides the strong smell and taste of garlic. Parsley and other green herbs can largely remedy this odor. There is also chewing gum that counteracts the pungent garlic odor.

Applications

  1. Garlic has many positive effects on the human body and has no side effects except for the smell. Garlic fluid influences the fermentation process in the intestines and stimulates the bile juices. As a result, it aids digestion, helps with cramps and prevents flatulence. Garlic also has a positive effect on blood pressure; it widens the veins. Garlic is a strong antioxidant, is good for the circulation and lowers cholesterol. It also helps with the absorption of iron from your diet and has an anti-inflammatory effect. However, when garlic is heated, many of its medicinal substances are lost.

Fungal infection

  1. Garlic prevents the growth of the candida bacteria, the culprit of a vaginal yeast infection. Adding fresh garlic to your diet can help with an existing yeast infection and prevent future infections. You can also make a paste of the garlic to spread on the irritated area, or use a garlic clove as an anti-fungal tampon.

Garlic paste

  1. Remove the skin from four garlic cloves and chop very finely. You can then mix them with two tablespoons of vinegar, but this is optional. Then rub them in a mortar. Spread the paste on the areas with itching or irritation and leave it on for 15 minutes, after which you remove it. If you are using this as a cure, make new pasta every day and do not use old leftovers.

Anti-fungal tampon

  1. Remove the skin from a clove of garlic and cut it so that it contains slices. This allows the juice to be released. You can then wrap the garlic in gauze and attach a wire to it. Now you can insert it like a tampon and let it sit for a few hours. Repeat the procedure as often as necessary.

Warning

  1. When using blood-thinning drugs or just after an operation, high doses of garlic can have an adverse effect. Garlic can affect blood clotting. Talk to a doctor about whether it is wise to use garlic and whether it may cause an adverse reaction with your current medication. Fresh garlic is also poisonous to dogs and cats.
