What is a bucket list?

  1. A bucket list is also referred to as a "bucket list" or "lead list" in Dutch. It is a list of things someone wants to do before he or she "kicks the bucket" (in English: "kick the bucket"), or dies. You often hear that terminally ill people draw up a bucket list. The name "bucket list" was made popular by the movie "The Bucket List", which was released in 2007.

Why should you make a bucket list?

  1. Terminally ill people often think of what they want to do in their lives before they die. This can happen consciously or unconsciously. They do this because they are confronted with the fact that one does not live forever.

How do you make a bucket list?

  1. First you start thinking about what makes you happy. Are they small things? Or are you very active and do you want to travel a lot or do extreme sports? Do you want to improve the world? If you're not sure, talk to family members or friends. They can sometimes point out things you have never thought about yourself.

  1. Once you've created your account, BucketList.org wants to help you create a bucket list. You can skip these steps if you wish. At Step 1, you choose a number of interests (choice from Travel, Adventure, Experience, New Skills or Family.
