  1. Acne is a nasty skin condition that often appears during puberty. The condition is characterized by inflammation of the skin. This often disappears after puberty, but if you have had a lot of acne, this can result in scars that usually do not disappear. However, there are treatment methods and home remedies to fade these scars.

Acne scars

  1. People who suffer from acne often have scars from this. The intense inflammation that is characteristic of acne causes the scarring. Often times the severity of the inflammation determines the extent of the scar that will form. Yet it often differs per person to what extent someone develops scars, some skin is more sensitive to this and scars more quickly than the other.

Treatment Methods

  1. There are several methods to treat acne scars. Today, a lot can be done to fade the scars so that they are less visible. You have to realize that the scars can never completely disappear.

Dermabrasion

  1. The skin is shaved down to the layer under the epidermis. The skin is first thoroughly cleaned and then shaved off by means of a fast rotating brush with steel wire or a fast rotating disc with diamond grains. This is done by a plastic surgeon under partial or general anesthesia. This technique is often used for wrinkles, acne scars or tattoo removal.

Microdermabrasion

  1. This is a lighter form of the above dermabrasion and is performed by a beautician or specialist therapist. The superficial, dead skin layer is removed by means of a fine jet of aluminum oxide crystals and gives the new skin layer a stimulus to produce collagen and elastin, which gives the skin a fresh appearance and fades scars and wrinkles. This treatment is painless.

Fractional CO2 laser treatment

  1. With the fractional CO2 Laser, hundreds of tiny holes are shot in the skin, the energy of the laser spreads under the epidermis and stimulates the skin to produce collagen and elastin. This makes the skin firmer and thicker, filling in the scars and improving the structure of the skin.

Stimulation of connective tissue production

  1. With this treatment the deeper skin layer is heated, which releases growth factors that cause the connective tissue cells in the skin to make new connective tissue. This method is safe but temporary in nature and must be repeated every year.

Home remedies for acne scars

  1. Honey with nutmeg powder Mix 1 teaspoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of nutmeg and apply to the scar twice a week. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse with water.

Lemon juice

  1. Cleansing the skin every day with lemon juice removes dead skin cells and lightens the dark scars of acne.

Aloe Vera

  1. Aloe vera contains many vitamins, minerals and proteins that have a great influence on the recovery of the skin. Rub the skin with aloe vera twice a day.

Rosehip Oil

  1. Rosehip Oil is full of natural substances that contribute to the healing of serious skin problems. It has been scientifically researched that rose hip oil has a repairing / renewing effect on the skin.

Baking soda

  1. A form of the above microdermabrasion, but at home! Mix two teaspoons of water with one teaspoon of baking soda and scrub your face with it. Rub your face in a circular motion. This removes dead skin cells and gives a smooth and radiant face.

Prevention is better than cure

  1. Of course, prevention is always better than cure. Try to minimize the pimples with acne. Pimples are always tempting to squeeze or pick. Try to avoid this as much as possible because it will scars you.
