Another good substitute for crème fraîche is sour cream. Sour cream contains about 50% less fat than crème fraîche. In addition, it seems to taste practically the same. Sour cream is less suitable for use with hot dishes, however, since sour cream can curdle and crème fraîche does not do this at the somewhat higher temperatures.
