How healthy is rice really?

  1. In the previous article I told you that eating pasta is not as bad as people think. In fact, it can even be a meal that contains all the necessary vitamins and minerals and can also give you a lot of energy.

  1. Less than an hour later I got the question whether eating rice is also healthy? Let me answer this question in the form of an article on the blog! This will benefit more people!

  1. Let me give you the following comment first! I don't remember exactly where I read it, but anyway :)

  1. The foods that are eaten on average in the Netherlands contain too much salt, fats, sugars and too little fiber and vitamins.

  1. When we look at rice, it contains no salt, sugar or fat and logically we can already conclude from this that eating rice is better than the average diet of the Dutch. In addition, it also contains many dietary fibers that we still need on a daily basis.

What does rice consist of?

  1. How we know rice (white grains), it would surprise you that rice belongs to the grass family. It is one of the most important foods in the world. Partly because it is very cheap to produce, edit, but still has a lot of good properties.

  1. Now we are going to dissect the rice grain:

  1. Everyone grain of rice (unpeeled) consists of 4 parts:

  1. Unfortunately I can't find a detailed photo, so I'll take this myself in the next few days and add it to the article.

  1. Below the nutritional value of rice. For the sake of convenience, I have used the most common rice variety and this is brown rice.

  1. Nutritional values of brown rice (1oo gram)

  1. Vitamin A: None

  1. Vitamin C: None

  1. Vitamin B1: 100 micrograms

  1. Fats: 2.5 grams

  1. Carbohydrates: 73 grams of carbohydrates

  1. Proteins: 8 grams

  1. White rice: The first rice I will cover is also the most boring type of rice. It has a neutral taste, it has no skin and it is a fairly long grain. Although this is actually a very boring rice, it contains a lot of good foods.

  1. It contains good fiber, vitamins B1 and 3 and large amounts of iron. White rice is quickly digested, so that the nutrients (carbohydrates, for example) are quickly absorbed by the body. This form of rice is less suitable for people who want to lose weight.

  1. Unpolished rice: The name will be reminiscent of a silver rice. However, this is not the case, it is more of a brown grain. Because the membrane remains in place, this rice contains an enormous amount of dietary fiber compared to all other forms of rice. This is the most healthy rice (even if you want to lose weight)

  1. Basmati rice: The rice is very tasty and originally from Pakistan. It is the most expensive rice, but this does not necessarily mean that it is the healthiest. The name Basmati says something about the breed and nothing about the foods. So there is also basmati brown rice!
