Make your own hair products with herbs and oils

  1. Your hair needs good care just like the rest of your body. You get this care from shampoo and lotion. Many types of brands are for sale in the store, but often with additives of chemical products. But why buy when you can make shampoo yourself? And it's fun to do too

Hair lotion

  1. This hair lotion has a fresh lemon scent and is for both men and women. Boxwood stimulates hair growth and the bay leaf fights dandruff.

Requirements

  1. Fresh bay leaf fresh boxwood leaves 150ml cider vinegar 15 drops of grapefruit essence

Preparation method

  1. Pick the boxwood and bay leaves from the stems. Place a handful of each leaf in a pan. Fill a measuring cup with 1.5 liters of boiling water. Then pour the water on the leaves in the pan. Put the pan on the fire and bring the water to a gentle boil. Let it cook over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring frequently with a stainless steel spoon. After 20 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and let the liquid cool. Then pour it through a sieve into the measuring cup. Remove the leaves. Add the vinegar to the decoction and add 15 drops of grapefruit essence. Gently shake this mixture and let the lotion clear in a decorative bottle.

Lavender hair lotion

  1. This lotion is especially suitable for brown or black hair. Both the flowers and the oil of lavender have an anti-bacterial effect and give dark hair a beautiful shine.

Requirements

  1. 10 grams of dried lavender flowers 4 drops of lavender oil

Preparation method

  1. Put the dried lavender flowers in a bowl and add 60 cl of boiling water. Leave this on for about an hour. Pour the liquid through a strainer into a measuring cup. Discard the lavender. Let the decoction cool and then add the 4 drops of lavender oil and stir well. Then pour the hair lotion into a bottle using a funnel.

Herbal Shampoo

  1. This shampoo is suitable for normal hair, but can be used for any hair type through the use of other essential oils.

Requirements

Preparation method

  1. Pour the shampoo for each hair type into a plastic bottle. Add 6 drops of lavender oil, 4 drops of neroli oil and 2 tablespoons of rosemary oil to the shampoo. Close the bottle hermetically and shake it well so that the oils mix. Finally, add a few sprigs of washed rosemary, it smells good and looks nice.

Detangler with oregano

Preparation method

Preparation method

  1. Cut the rosemary leaves in a heatproof bowl. Add the sage leaves and carefully pour the mixture over with the boiling water. Leave this mixture on for at least 2 hours. Strain the infusion and pour into a tightly fitting bottle.

Preparation method

  1. Place the nettle leaves, peppermint and rosemary in a measuring cup and pour 60 cl of boiling water on top. Add the cloves and let it rest for 2 hours. Pour the liquid through a sieve and press all the liquid out of the herbs with the back of a spoon. Measure the sieved amount of liquid in the measuring cup, add the same amount of shampoo and stir well. Add 2 to 3 drops of peppermint oil and stir well again. Pour the shampoo into a bottle and it is ready to use.
