Healthy eating is an important part of life. Many of us strive to eat as healthy as possible every day, but are you actually sure that you are feeding yourself as healthy as possible? There are countless 'superfoods' on the market. Most, however, are not affordable and come from somewhere far away from tropical regions. A pity really, because our own superfoods, which are simply available in abundance on the market, are largely ignored.
-
With so many superfoods available, it's hard to know which ones offer the most benefits. I would like to help you with that. I have put together a list of 10 foods you should eat every day. And it gets even better: most of these 'superfoods' are available in every supermarket for little money!

1. Linseed
-
Flaxseed provides an easy way to add a large dose of fiber to your diet. Flaxseed is very easily available in the supermarket and can be sprinkled over salads, fish or basically any type of meal or snack. To give you an idea of just how healthy flaxseed really is, one tablespoon of ground flaxseed sprinkled over cereal, yogurt or salad provides nearly 3 grams of fiber. [! 182395 => 1140 = 4!] According to numerous studies, flaxseed is not only high in fiber, but also a rich source of micronutrients, including essential fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid), vitamin B1, manganese and vitamin B1 , which means they are a rich source of omega-3 fats and antioxidants that reduce the risk of a number of health problems, such as heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes.

Beans can be included in your diet in many different ways. For example, make a tasty chili with kidney beans, or serve them as part of a salad. I personally like to hide beans in almost every meal, such as stews and pasta sauces. This is also an ideal solution if you don't like beans, as they absorb the flavor of the other ingredients that way. And an extra plus: beans are incredibly cheap, so suitable for every budget!

The studies were conducted over a 2-week period in which participants consumed different sources of beta-glucan such as oat bran, oatmeal and oatmeal and a range of cereals, breads, muffins and muesli.
6. Broccoli
-
Like blueberries for fruit, broccoli should be your first choice when it comes to vegetables. The sulfur compounds in broccoli signal our genes to increase the production of enzymes and detoxify our cells of potentially cancer-causing compounds. Broccoli can be eaten uncooked with a healthy dip or can be cooked and used as a side dish, made into a salad or fried in a frying pan. The possibilities are endless.

-
Eggs are a good source of high quality protein. They are also known to be very satiating, reducing your tendency to reach for unhealthy snacks throughout the day. In addition to these benefits, eggs also have a positive effect on the health of your eyes. Eating one (or two) eggs in the morning with fresh fruit is a great way to provide your body with the nutrients it needs to be nourished throughout the day.
-
Eggs are also a source of almost all the vitamins and nutrients we need. A single egg is a source of vitamin D, vitamin A, vitamin K, folic acid, calcium, zinc, vitamins B12, B2 and B6, selenium, phosphorus, proteins, essential fatty acids, and even trace amounts of nutrients that are normally part of the typical superfood. In short, eggs are the perfect food to start the day!

Spinach has so many health benefits. It is a great source of vitamins A, C and K, as well as fiber, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium and vitamin E. 9. Nuts and Seeds
-
Nuts and seeds are a fantastic source of healthy unsaturated fats. A recent study found that adults who regularly consume nuts are likely to live 2 years longer than people who don't make nuts a regular part of their diet. Walnuts and almonds are your best options when you have a variety of nuts to choose from. Snacking on nuts and seeds (in moderation - they contain a lot of energy) will benefit your health in countless ways.
-
Another study by Harvard University found that a handful of nuts and seeds (about 30 grams) per day significantly increases your chances of a longer life. In addition, these small diamonds from nature also contain other substances that improve your mood. For a good start in the day, you can, for example, sprinkle a spoonful of chopped nuts and seeds over your breakfast. Nice and healthy!
10. Oranges
-
Eating a large, fresh orange provides your body with no less than 100 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. A cup of 100 percent pure orange juice also contains this vitamin in abundance. This tasty fruit is also rich in fiber and folic acid, making it one of the best fruits to eat on a daily basis. While the whole fruit is of course healthier, a glass of juice (freshly squeezed of course!) Won't hurt either. Moreover, a glass of orange juice is delicious with an extensive breakfast on a Sunday morning.
-
A study conducted by the American Chemical Society showed that an ideal serving of this fruit is about 250 grams. This provides you daily with sufficient vitamin C, which is responsible for maintaining your immune system, a healthy portion of fiber and other nutrients that your body desperately needs. Especially if you have a cold or the flu, oranges can help you feel better again. An orange also goes perfectly with a healthy breakfast, but is of course also very tasty and useful as a snack. Plenty of choice!
Sample menu healthy food

Do you ever wonder what a day looks like when you really eat healthy? To help you with this, I have posted a sample daily menu below that includes all 10 foods I described above. This may give you ideas on how to incorporate these foods into your diet yourself.
-
And if you need a little more inspiration, there are numerous recipes online with the above products. The recipes don't have to be elaborate or complex at all. In fact, I hardly ever cook anything with more than 7 or 8 ingredients - including herbs and spices!
-
And if more than 4 steps are already described, I am often already gone. Unless it might be a very special occasion. Still, I am able to have a healthy diet every day with few ingredients and on a modest budget.
-
1/4 cup oat flakes mixed with 1 tablespoon chopped nuts and 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds. Sprinkle this mixture over 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt with a pinch of stevia. Serve with 1/2 cup of berries.
-
1 orange
-
Whole wheat spelled bread spread with a teaspoon of mustard and topped with a handful of spinach leaves, tomato slices, a slice of low-fat cheese and a sliced egg.
-
1/4 cup hummus with cucumber and carrot slices.
-
Broccoli soup: Add a teaspoon of olive oil to the pan and fry 2 cloves of chopped garlic in it. Add 200 grams of broccoli and 100 grams of cubed zucchini. Fry together briefly and then add a cup of vegetable stock. Let it cook until the vegetables are tender and puree the soup with a hand blender. Make creamy with a few spoons of yogurt and season with salt and pepper. Serve with a piece of baked salmon.
-
If necessary, finish with a sliced frozen banana. (Tastes like banana ice cream!)
Finally ...
-
Healthy food can be very tasty. I personally like to trade in a bar of Snickers for a large bowl of fresh berries. But the best part is knowing that I am doing something good for my body, for my health. And besides, I hope to serve as a good example for others who have health or weight problems.
-
